I’m excited to kick off a new series where I’ll be sharing honest reviews of hotels I’ve stayed in. While I may not always redeem points for these stays, I’ll cover comfort, amenities, service, and how your credit card spending helps you rack up points for future travels. Stay tuned for simple, crisp reviews to help you plan your next trip! Here is my review of the Ibis Coimbatore City Centre.
Ibis Coimbatore City Centre Review
Booking & Cost
Ibis is a budget hotel chain, and the Ibis Coimbatore City Centre offers just one room type—the Standard Room. However, within this category, there are variations like double bed, twin bed, and rooms with extra benefits such as early check-in, late check-out, and 30% off on food and laundry.
I booked a Standard Queen Room through the Accor ALL app, paying just under ₹4,000 (inclusive of breakfast and taxes). I used my Axis Atlas credit card (Apply Now) at checkout and earned 5x Edge Miles on the same, adding a little extra value to my stay.
Why Ibis Coimbatore?
This was a work trip. I arrived in Coimbatore at night and had to leave for another city the next morning. I just needed a clean, comfortable place to rest for a few hours. Ibis Coimbatore City Centre fit the bill perfectly.
Check-in Experience
I arrived around 10 p.m., and the check-in desk is located on the first floor. The process was quick and hassle-free—the staff took my ID and handed me the room key card within a few minutes. Nothing fancy, but efficient.
Room – Standard Queen Room
As a budget hotel, Ibis focuses on providing basic, no-frills accommodation. The room was simple yet comfortable, with all the essentials for a good night’s sleep.
Amenities included tea/coffee sachets, a water heater, and two water bottles. The bathrooms are modular, likely prefabricated, as they’re identical to those in other Ibis properties I’ve stayed at.
Overall, the room was clean, hygienic, and the bed was comfortable—just what I needed for a short stay.
Breakfast
The hotel serves breakfast on the first floor in the restaurant next to the reception. The spread was simple with a mix of South Indian dishes, bread, bakery items, and fresh fruit. North Indian options included paratha, aloo sabji, and pav bhaji. There’s also a live counter offering dosas and omelettes.
I tried idlis, vada, and paratha. The food was good, though I skipped the live counter as it wasn’t open during my breakfast time. That said, my colleague who dined after me mentioned that some items ran out and weren’t replenished promptly—a common issue noted in a few online reviews.
Nearby Options
Just opposite the hotel is The Laxmi Mills Mall, which caught my eye, though I didn’t have time to explore. It houses popular outlets like Starbucks, Mini So, and Lulu Hypermart. Plus, being in the heart of the city, there are plenty of eateries nearby.
Conclusion
I had a pleasant, hassle-free stay at Ibis Coimbatore City Centre. It’s a basic hotel with clean rooms and essential amenities, ideal for short business trips or official visits. However, for personal travel with family, it might not be the best choice unless you’re on a tight budget.
Will I stay here again? Most probably.
