For #ccgeeks, one of the most common issues is knowing the merchant MCC in advance. This is because card issuers offer reward points based on MCCs. Further, recently, card issuers have started explicitly excluding MCCs from earning reward points, e.g., rental platforms, and utilities.
This is where ccreward.app calculator comes in handy. You must select your credit card, amount and the merchant’s name, e.g. MakeMyTrip, IRCTC, Vijay Sales, and viola. The calculator tells you how many reward points you will earn on the transaction. It’s that simple.
Below is the embedded version of the ccreward.app calculator. You don’t need to leave my blog to try it out. You can use the calculator right here.
Further, depending on your card type, you may have to enter more details. For example, the Amex MRCC card(Apply Now), asks you about the monthly spend range and number of transactions in that month. In case of the Amex Gold(Apply Now), it asks if it’s an Amex Reward Multiplier transaction. For HDFC cards, it asks if the proposed transaction is a SmartBuy transaction.
Also, visit the www.ccreward.app to explore more. The site has a feature where you can add your credit cards. It shows which is the best credit card to use for a transaction. One great thing I like about the ccreward.app you can do all this without creating an account. So no risk of data privacy as such. Further, even if you create an account with the website, it just asks for the card variant. It doesn’t ask for card numbers and other sensitive information. Kudos to Ashish! The creator of ccreward.app
Lastly, note that the app/calculator is still in the development stage as we speak. So, there can be some errors and mistakes. Do highlight those to the creator or in the comments below. I am sure Ashish will try to resolve them as soon as possible.
