Best Grocery Credit Cards

Grocery spending is easily one of the most recurring and important expenses for most households. It’s common for an average household to spend tens of thousands on groceries every month. With the right grocery credit cards, it’s fairly easy to get 5–10% effective cashback on most of your monthly kirana bills without changing your lifestyle too much. In this article, I highlight some of the best credit cards for grocery shopping in India.

Best Grocery Credit Cards

HSBC Live+ Credit Card – 10% on all grocery spends

HSBC Live+ Credit Card

The HSBC Live+ is probably the best grocery credit card right now. The card gives a straight 10% cashback on Swiggy, Zomato, Zepto and even Dmart. Cashback is capped at ₹1,000 per month (i.e. up to ₹10,000 of spending across these categories). This is a straightforward statement credit, so there are no complications with partner wallets or point redemptions, etc.

The highlight of the HSBC Live+ (read review here) is that 10% cashback is applicable on all dining, food delivery and grocery spends. The big advantage is that HSBC is not restricting you to a single partner; you can choose whichever app has the best rates that day and still earn the 10% from the card.

HSBC Rupay Cashback Credit Card – 10% on grocery + works on UPI

HSBC Rupay Cashback Credit Card

Apply now

Think of the HSBC Rupay Cashback credit card as “chota” HSBC Live+ with UPI benefits. Similar to HSBC Live+, the HSBC Rupay card offers 10% cashback on dining, food delivery and grocery spends. The drawback here is that cashback is capped at 400 per month. Further, the 400 cashback is the maximum cashback that you can earn in a month on this card. Thus, if you were to spend on other categories once the 400 cashback is reached, you don’t get any further cashback.

Nonetheless, the HSBC Rupay card is one of the best grocery credit cards, giving a clean 10% cashback on all grocery spends. Furthermore, as mentioned in the detailed review here, the HSBC Rupay card gives 0% forex charges. The offer was earlier applicable till Dec-25 and now extended till Jun-26, thus enhancing the usability of the card.

HDFC Swiggy Credit Card

Swiggy HDFC Credit Card

Apply Now

The HDFC Swiggy Credit Card (read review here) is among the best grocery credit cards if your household groceries and eating‑out runs through Swiggy. You get 10% cashback on Swiggy (food delivery, Instamart, Dineout and Genie) up to ₹1,500 cashback per month, which translates to ₹15,000 of monthly Swiggy spends. Plus, you get 5% cashback from many other online merchants like Amazon and Flipkart, etc., with a separate ₹1,500 monthly cap, while all other spends earn 1% with a ₹500 cap.

The HDFC Swiggy credit card lets you stack Swiggy offers plus card cashback, thus comfortably hit an effective 12–15% saving on some orders.

Axis Airtel Credit Card

Axis Airtel Credit Card

Apply Now

Axis Airtel Credit Card is popular for 25% cashback on Airtel bill payments and 10% cashback on other bill payments via the Airtel app. However, the Axis Airtel credit card is also a very good grocery credit card and offers meaningful value on certain food and grocery partners. You get 10% on Swiggy, Zomato and Bigbasket, subject to a monthly cashback cap of 500.

SBI Cashback Credit Card – the 5% cashback card

SBI Cashback Credit Card

Apply Now

The SBI Cashback Credit Card (detailed review here) is generally considered the best cashback credit card and thus is also one of the best grocery credit cards. The SBI Cashback credit card works best for someone who does their grocery shopping online. It gives a flat 5% cashback on most online spends, which effectively covers grocery orders placed through major e‑commerce and quick‑commerce apps.

The monthly capping of 5000 cashback ensures that this card works well for normal use. Offline grocery spends at supermarkets, or local kirana stores falls in 1% cashback bucket, so this is not the ideal swipe for Dmart billing counters.

SBI PhonePe Black Credit Card – for PhonePe and bill‑heavy users

SBI PhonePe Black credit card (read review here) is more of a PhonePe‑ecosystem and bill‑payment specialist, but with 5% cashback, it is a solid grocery credit card. Online grocery spends made on Swiggy, Zomato, Dmart, Zepto, etc fetches 5% cashback. Further, this credit card is available in the RuPay variant also. Thus, it doubles up as your UPI credit card also. In turn, making it a formidable contender for the best grocery credit card.

HDFC Millennia Credit Card

HDFC Millennia Credit Card

Apply Now

The HDFC Millennia is more of an all‑rounder than a pure grocery card, but it still deserves a mention in the best grocery credit card list as it gives 5% cashback on Swiggy, Zomato and online marketplaces like Amazon and Flipkart.  The good thing is that this credit card gives 5% upto 1000 cashback every month and also offers decent milestone benefits.

Hack for premium credit card users

For premium credit cards such as HDFC Infinia, HDFC Diners Black Metal, Axis Magnus, Axis Atlas, ICICI Emerald Private Metal, etc. The best way to extract maximum value for grocery shopping is to use gift vouchers from their respective bank/partner portals or other websites where these premium cards often give outsized reward rates or milestone benefits. You then use those vouchers to pay on the app, effectively converting your travel‑oriented or milestone‑oriented cards into highly rewarding grocery credit cards.

Conclusion on best grocery credit cards

Below is the summary infographics of the grocery credit cards discussed above.

If your goal is maximum, no-nonsense cashback on grocery shopping, the answer is very clear. HSBC Live+ and HSBC Rupay credit cards offer the most bang for the buck. Simply because they work beautifully on Zepto and Dmart in addition to Swiggy and Zomato – something most competing cards don’t match, as they stay limited to one or two branded partners. Nonetheless, even the other cards discussed are very good and give solid returns.

For premium credit card holders, I recommend the gift voucher way to maximise the reward rate. You can stack the specific gift cards to get accelerated reward rates or miles. I personally use the gift card way to maximise my reward rate on my Diners Black, Amex Trifecta and Axis Atlas credit cards.
