Positives of the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card
Unlimited 5% cashback on Amazon purchases
The Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card offers unlimited 5% cashback on nearly all Amazon purchases. Of course, there are exclusions; these are EMI transactions made through the card, purchases converted to EMI post facto, fuel spends, and Amazon Business transactions. Further, purchases of physical and digital gold on Amazon, payments towards rent, taxes and education on Amazon, utilities and international transactions outside Amazon dont earn any cashback.
For normal purchases and daily use products, this credit card gives unlimited cashback. This applies to purchases of electronics, phones, etc., too.
2% on utilities/insurance/Amazon gift cards
You get 2% cashback on paying utility bills, insurance premiums and other bill payments via the Amazon website/app. For insurance premiums, do keep in mind that Amazon only allows premiums of up to 1 lakh. In addition, only six premium payments can be made in a month using credit cards/Amazon Pay.
Furthermore, while you get 2% cashback on utility bills, ICICI Bank will levy a charge of 1% or utility payment transactions exceeding 50k in a month. These restrictions are in place to ensure that retail credit cards are not used for business purposes.
In addition, you get 2% cashback on the purchase of Amazon Pay GVs from the Amazon website.
Outside of the Amazon ecosystem, you get 1% cashback on eligible purchases.
Even a wallet load gets 1% cashback.
Amazon Pay ICICI credit card is one of the rare credit cards (except Amex credit cards, maybe) that still gives cashback for loading money into a wallet. However, from 15th Jan 2026, there will be a 1% fee on wallet load of 5000 or more. Thus, for a wallet under 5k, you will get 1% cashback.
Negatives of the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card
Cashback is in the form of an Amazon Pay balance
The cashback is in the form of the Amazon Pay balance and not statement credit, a norm for most cashback credit cards. Cashback in the form of the Amazon Pay balance forces you to spend back in the Amazon ecosystem. This takes away the flexibility of statement credit offers.
No add-on cards available
For some weird reason, no add-ons are available on the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card.
Some cases of cashback being blocked
There are a few cases on Reddit and Twitter where the cashback of some cardholders has been blocked. A common trait in these cases was that either the spending was done on Amazon business accounts or it was business spends. Another common trait was that the cardholders had done outsized transactions running into the 10s of lakhs per month.
A practical solution to this is to keep monthly cashback within a 10k limit to avoid such scenarios.
Common queries on using the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card
Which Amazon Prime membership to buy?
Since Amazon now has multiple variants of the Prime membership, a common question is which membership to buy?
One can buy the cheapest Prime membership, i.e. Prime for Shopping and still enjoy 5% unlimited cashback on the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card. This is clearly mentioned in here.
What if my Amazon credit card is used in a different Amazon account?
Assuming that you have a Prime membership and you use your Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card on another non-Prime account, you still get 5% cashback on the purchases made in that account. This is because the 5% or 3% cashback is tied to the status of the Amazon account linked with your credit card. The vice versa is also true, that if your account is non-prime and you use the card on a prime account, you only get 3% cashback.
However, do note that the cashback is always credited in the Amazon wallet of the cardholder, irrespective of the account used for shopping.
Comparing the Amazon credit card with other cashback cards
When comparing the cashback rates of the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card with other cashback cards; the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card pales at first.

However, the key lies in the unlimited cashback that the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card offers, versus the capping of cashback on nearly all other credit cards. Thus, the way to optimise your spending will be to use the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card for spending on Amazon and its ecosystem. Use other cashback credit cards on platforms or websites where they give the best cashback. For instance, use the HDFC Swiggy credit card(Apply Now) on Swiggy for 10% cashback, HSBC Live+(Apply Now) on BigBasket, Dmart, Zomato, and Swiggy for 10% cashback and the SBI Cashback(Apply Now) credit card for other online spending.
Conclusion
This credit card is among the best no-nonsense cashback credit cards out there, and you should definitely apply for one. As mentioned earlier, the way to optimise your spending would be to use this credit card exclusively for spending on Amazon and its ecosystem. Use your other cashback credit cards for spending on other platforms.
However, if you are among the credit card power users who rely on Amazon Pay vouchers for spending earned through HDFC Diners Black(Apply Now), HDFC Infinia(Apply Now), Axis Atlas(Apply Now), etc., then this credit card may not appeal to you.
